Gifts left to charities in wills – usually known as legacies – don’t need to be large, and they don’t prevent you from taking care of your family and loved ones. In fact, a legacy to a charity can ease the burden of inheritance tax.

Legacies are becoming an increasingly important part of income for all charities, including Citizens Advice.   Leaving a legacy to your local Citizens Advice centre will help make sure that we are still here, down the years to come, for your family, friends and others in the community.

What Do I Do?

Making or changing a will is easier than you think, although we recommend that you use a solicitor. That way you can make your wishes are clear and have taken into account any legal requirements that you may not be aware might affect your circumstances.  Simply give your solicitor the name of your local advice centre, its registered address, and charity number so they can write the necessary clause in your will.
